This is a free starter web page for musicians.

1. put your mouse at the top left corner of the box below, drag it to the bottom
of the box so that all text is highlighted from the "<DOCTYPE" down to the "</html>" ;
press and C at the same time to copy the text [or right click and select 'copy"] ;
now open a text editor or word processor, and paste the text into a new empty file ,

2. save the above file as index.html in a folder named myWebSite on your computer
(this is an "html" file format, that you must select in the filetype selection box)

3. edit the file:
change the names and addresses and photos and othre stuff to your info
especially in the title
WARNING!!!! be careful what you put on the web like your address or phone number;
especially if you are a woman or under 21;
there are mean people out there !!!
email addresses are safest

4. take some digital photos size them to about 200 x 300 pixels
or 200 x 200 save as medium sized jpg files
save your photos in the myWebSite folder on your computer [thats where index.html is too]
(you need to be sure to name the photos the same as the names you have in the
index.html file)

5. make some mp3 files of your music and put them in the myWebSite folder on your computer
change the text inthe web page to the names of your mp3 files make sure these are named
the same as your mp3 music clips;

6. get a space on the web from your Internet service provider or a paid provider;
if you use your service provider they will probably provide you with free space for a
web page it will be like www.geocities.com/yourname ; yahoo email users can get a
free page on geocities.com ! or you can buy a domain name like yourname.com and pay
a web hosting company to host it. there are many to choose from
simplehost.net and godaddy.com are good ones

7. transfer this page and your photos to your web space via ftp (see herbs ftp section)
or your web hosting site upload directions
